Dear Juan,

Thanks for your letter. I’m sorry I haven’t written for so long but I’ve been really busy. I’ve got some good news! I’ve managed to persuade my parents to let me spend a year in your country learning the language! So I hope we’ll be able to see each other when I’m there. I’ve applied for courses in several cities, so I don’t know exactly where I’ll be going yet.

I must admit that now I am starting to get a bit worried. Now that it’s definite that I’m going, I’ve started to wonder how I’ll adapt to living there. How easy do you think it is for someone from England to get used to living in your country? As you know, I’ve only been there on holiday and I’m sure living there is going to be very different. What kind of problems do you think I might have? I’d really like your advice.

I have to finish now as I have to go and pick up my little brother from school. Write soon, or if it’s easier, send me an e-mail from the university. My e-mail address is renton@btelecom.uk. Give my regards to your parents. I hope they’re both well.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Andy
